My friend Helen wanted to give her niece a tea party just because. Her niece loves the Disney Fairies especially Fawn and Rosetta. Helen is very creative, she is our official cake decorator and party planner. Now I have become her co-conspirator to create fabulous kid parties. This fairy tea party was great to say the least.
Helen made sugar cookies then put icing on the top and placed edible pictures of each of the fairies.
This sign welcomed the little fairies to the tea party. It is modeled after the one in Pixie Hollow at Disneyland. It is painted foam board with letters cut from a cricut.
This table center piece was housed in a green wired basket. I used floral foam to hold all the silk flowers and used shredded green paper (used for easter grass or the inside of gift bags) to hide the floral foam. Then I placed Tinkerbell in the center. We are going to save that centerpiece and use it at my niece's Strawberry Shortcake party. We love to recycle and repurpose decorations and ideas for other parties.
The Menu
We served various tea sandwiches, fruit, veggies and for dessert cookies and cupcakes.
Each of the tea sandwiches were given a name that fit the Disney Fairy theme such as Pixie Dust Tea Sandwiches.
This sign was made from card stock and the cut outs were created by the cricut cutting machine.
Cupcakes were placed on a cupcake sign topped with pink icing and Disney Fairy rings.
The Fairy Hideaway: This was made with pink felt and a purple sheet and suspended from the awning of the house. It was a great break from the heat of the sun.
Games
This was the pond toss game. Helen ordered these frogs for my daughter's third birthday for a chocolate pond toss. My daughter's third birthday was a candy carnival. So under the circular blue table cloth are two cardboard boxes. We placed lilly pads on top of the boxes. The green of lilly pad was made of card stock and the flower was cut using the cricut machine. The object of the game is to toss bean bag frogs onto the lilly pads.
This is another bean bag toss. The front of the board has monsters on it. My husband ordered it online using American Express points as a Christmas present for our daughter. Then we used this for her third birthday for a candy monster toss. The object was to feed the monsters as much candy as possible. For this party I used the back and placed pictures of different Disney fairies and a rainbow. The girls loved this game.
Fairy Ring Toss
Helen found fairy dolls at the dollar store. We used these for the fairy ring toss game. The object was to throw rings (we used the glow in the dark necklaces you can get at amusement parks or carnivals) around the fairies.
Crafts and Craft Table
We used recycled tule from one of Helen's daughter's birthdays. 8 bolts of tule were tied to a metal ring and we threw the ring over the top of my easy up. Then we tied the tule to the poles and metal frame of the easy-up. On the inside I made a chandler and hung it from the center of the easy-up frame. Next we placed a table underneath for a craft table. The girls made necklaces and bracelets out of beads. Helen found kits on sale for 50 cents.
Disney Fairies and their Talents
Each disney fairy has a talent. We incorporated this into the party. We used silk flowers (which Helen bought on sale from Michael's at 90% off) to highlight Rosetta's talent as a garden fairy. There was a sun on the wall next to the craft table to highlight Iridessa's talent as a light fairy. We used Helen's water feature in honor of Silvermist the water fairy. Tinkerbell is a tinker fairy which means she likes to build things especially pots and pans. The chandler that I made highlighted her talent. I used a wired hanger which I made into a circle. I covered the hanger with green floral tape. Then I used twine to suspend the hanger. Next I tied more twine so that it would hang down. I then hot glued flowers from a lei that I took apart to the hanger and twine. Then I used tin pots and pans from my daughter's kitchen set and tied to the ends of the hanging twine. (Sorry I don't have a good picture for it). Helen had ceramic garden decorations of frogs, snails and a puppy dog which was used for Fawn the animal fairy's talent.
The best advice for parties that can start with a simple idea and become quite elaborate is to plan, plan, plan in advance. Also look around at the stuff you already have and think to yourself how can I repurpose what I've got. This will keep costs down.
Most importantly the girls had A LOT of fun
